Moon Picnic’s gorgeous set of 12 beautiful handmade wooden eggs is designed to help children learn through tactile and sensorial play.

The eggs are ideal for little hands to hold and feel the warmth and curves of the wood, roll them, count them and sort by size, as well as use in imaginative role-play. They are perfect for both Montessori and Waldorf early education.

These wonderfully life-like wooden eggs are based on common farm eggs such as chicken, turkey, duck, goose, quail as well as wild bird eggs. They are not intended to be exact representations of actual bird eggs, but by observing the lovely colours, speckles and different sizes, the wooden eggs create an opportunity to talk about the life cycles of birds and encourage a child’s love of nature. The set comes with a reminder to teach children not to collect any real bird eggs from the wild.

Made in Germany by well-known German toy brand Erzi, the 12 wooden eggs of different sizes are hand-turned on a lathe in solid beech wood and delicately hand painted with non-toxic, water-based paint. They make gorgeous decorations, especially for Spring or Easter displays.

The eggs range in size from 3.5cm to 6.5cm in length and are suitable for children aged 3 years and up. They come in a lovely printed cardboard box.
