About Eric Carle<\/h2>\n

Eric Carle was an acclaimed and beloved creator of brilliantly illustrated and designed picture books<\/a> for very young children. His best-known work, the very hungry Caterpillar<\/a>, has been translated into 70 languages and sold over 55 million copies worldwide. Carle illustrated more than 70 books, many best sellers, most of which he also wrote.<\/p>\n

In 2003, Carle received the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award for lifetime achievement in children’s literature and cofounded the Eric Carle Museum of picture book art with his wife Barbara.
