Opening up many more possibilities, the SINA Spielzeug original Gabe 4 from the Friedrich Froebel series of wooden playing gifts is only a slight variation on Gift 3 and represents the divided cube. It divides the cube from Gabe 2 into 8 oblong blocks / rectangular prisms measuring 50 x 25 x 12,5mm each and has wholeness as a key point which shows the child the pieces as part of the whole cube and their relationship to the whole.

To fully understand the whole, the wooden box of Gabe 4 is turned upside down. The box is carefully lifted off, revealing the cube from Gabe 2 now made from eight individual rectangular prisms. This ritual is an important part of play with Gaben 3 through 6 as scattering the blocks will not show the divided cube as a whole at first.

The underlying concept of play with Gabe 4 is of a unity of parts moving through various forms before returning to the whole by repeating the cycle. This idea instills an early understanding for the child’s own life and cycle.

This educational toy is suited for children aged 3 years and up and promotes the logical and orderly development of ideas. Gabe 4 encourages differentiation and symbolic play and develops mathematical skills such as sorting, counting, arithmetic operations, basic understanding of fractions through parts of a whole and enriches vocabulary.

Combined together, Gaben 3 through 6 provide the child with all types and shapes of wooden blocks needed for construction, which extends its use from education to a comprehensive and traditional wooden blocks set.

The SINA Spielzeug Gabe 4 is suitable for children aged 3 years and up.
