A Waldorf inspired handmade wooden birthday toy train with rail from the ‘colourful shapes’ range by Glückskäfer. The wooden birthday train is 49cm long and includes metal insets for decorative numbers, candle holder decoration or birthday candles measuring 1.4cm in diameter.

The birthday train is suitable for use from babies first birthday till the sixth birthday and features a train engine and 5 carriages in various bright colours.

The birthday train is a twist on the traditional Waldorf celebration ring and spirals which symbolise celebration of birthdays, family occasions, religious celebrations such as Christmas and other cultural events. The Waldorf pedagogy is thoughtful, has a strong emphasis on creative development, letting the child be in an unhurried pace and helps the child understand how to flow with nature.

The engine is used for the first birthday, and each carriage will be completed with a candle or a new personalised ornament until the child is six. Though the birthday train can be enjoyed long after the sixth birthday as well as cherished and played with on regular days. Each carriage and the train engine can be taken off the rail and played with separately. The birthday train is also a beautiful addition to toy shelves, a play room or to be featured in a window still.
