Watch me grow kit – 5 Little Bears

The watch me grow kit from Australian brand 5 Little Bears brings a favourite fairytale to life by encouraging children to grow their very own ‘beanstalks’. A wonderful childhood story, kids will love hearing the story of Jack planting magic beans that grew overnight. This kit relates the story by planting their own plant to grow beans and is the perfect gift for budding gardeners!

They will be enthralled learning about plant growth, being involved with watering them and watching them transform every day.

The kit is reusable and includes a timber stand, a test tube, a water dropper, a wooden lollypop stick, two cotton buds and snow pea beans. To make the beans grow and achieve maximum results, place the kit in a well-lit area, out of direct sunlight.  Once the beans have sprouted they can be transferred to a larger pot or garden bed. The timber stands can also be painted and/or decorated if desired.

Group Setting

Use as a science experience. Get each child to be a part of the process, one child can add the water another the seeds and soil. Children can learn to be patient and commit to a project which develops over time.

Outdoors

Take the children out to the garden and find plant in all different stages of growth, help the children to learn and discover the process of growing something and the requirements and commitment involved in gardening. Teach the children about sustainable living and growing their own food, maybe have them pick some ripe vegetables and try eating them to show the full process and results of growing things.

These unique and wonderful products follow children’s own interests and are all sustainably handmade in New South Wales, Australia from sustainably sourced Australian and New Zealand timber. Every piece of wood used is slightly different in colour, texture and grain, so there are naturally occurring imperfections seen in the timber (e.g knots, colour changes, etc) which cannot be removed and make the products more sustainable. These pieces of timber are also cut on an engraver and will have slight burnt marks on the edges on some sides, adding to their unique handmade character.
