Terracotta seed sprouters – Kikkerland

Expand your urban or classroom garden with the Kikkerland terracotta seed sprouters set! These handy seed sprouter plates are perfect for young budding gardeners to start germinating and growing their own seedlings.

Suited for all sizes of seeds, the sprouters offer an educational and entertaining indoor growing activity for any season, and lets children observe the process of seedling development unfolding.

Each of the terra cotta discs measure approximately 9.5cm diameter and fit over a typical drinking glass, keeping the seed or seedling moist but not submerged. Each of the discs has different features:

Disc 1 has multiple 0.2cm holes for sprouting micro greens such as alfalfa or broccoli
Disc 2 has one has a single 0.11cm opening for a nut, bean or small bulb such as a crocus or snowdrop
Disc 3 has a 0.28cm hole which works well with avocado pits or tulips and other large bulbs – it can also be used to root plant cuttings or simply to hold a cut flower upright in a wide-necked vase.
