Dinosaur fossil stamps – 5 Little Bears

The top side of these wonderful stamps is engraved with a Dinosaur and the other side features a single layered laser engraved skeleton – thick enough to create a great impression!

These dinosaur stamps are fantastic for encouraging creativity and engaging independent play and exploration. What sensory base leaves the clearest impression? If you apply different pressure how does the impression alter?

Use the stamps to make dinosaur fossil pencil rubbings too! If you want to create artwork with the stamps using paint or ink, please note paint or ink will stain the timber but not affect the use.

The dinosaur fossil stamps set contains 20 wooden pieces, each with a different dinosaur design and measuring either approx. 11.5 x 5.5 cm or  8.5 x 5.5 cm. They are entirely handmade in Australia, from sustainably sourced raw 3mm plywood.

Educational applications

Individual

Use at the play dough table or art area, encourage the child to make an artwork with the stamps and discuss the different dinosaurs, where they lived, what they ate.

Group Setting

Use for group art activites, extending on sustainability by looking for natural resources to play in such as sand, dirt, or making your own paints by crushing rocks. Great for open discussions about dinosaurs.

Outdoors

Take the stamps out to the sand pit with little brushes, bury them and get the children to carefully dig for the stamps with the brushes in their very own fossil dig! Then use the stamps to create a dinosaur scene in the sand.

Learning Opportunities

Develops fine motor skills, develop creative skills such as inventiveness thinking and imagination. Promotes communication skills by discussing what they have made with the stamps and learn about sustainability by discussing how wood offcuts were used to make these stamps. Every piece of wood used is slightly different in colour, texture and grain, so there are naturally occurring imperfections seen in the timber (e.g knots, colour changes, etc) which cannot be removed and make the products more sustainable. These pieces of timber are also cut on an engraver and will have slight burnt marks on the edges on some sides, adding to their unique handmade character.
