The Montessori imbucare peg box from the Educo Montessori toys range for babies and toddlers aged 0-3 years is inspired by the Nienhuis Montessori imbucare peg box. It represents a wooden tray with a nesting compartment and six pegs in the primary colours red, yellow and blue.
With this learning toy children practice the concept of object permanence, fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination in a focused manner. Imbucare is a traditional Montessori material used to develop the concept of object permanence and promotes some of the most fundamental skills to the developing brains of young toddlers.
By placing the pegs in the imbucare tray children practice movements coming from the wrist. These movements strengthen the fist, muscles in fingers, hands and wrists which indirectly prepares the hand for writing.
By placing the pin into the opening of the nesting compartment, the child learns to make a distinction between shape and size.
Practising with the imbucare material provides mental stimulation and explorative fun.
The Montessori imbucare peg box is suitable for children aged 11 to 13 months.
