Floor / wall frame for the metal insets – Nienhuis Montessori

The floor or wall frame for the metal insets is a beech plywood frame for holding the metal Insets and other necessary materials. The frame can be used standing on the floor, or mounted onto the wall. A separate wooden stand is included that may be attached to make it floor standing.

The metal insets are part of the Nienhuis Montessori language materials and are a direct preparation for writing as use of this material strengthens the pincer grip and coordinates the necessary wrist movement for writing.

This exercise also advances proficiency in lightness of touch and evenness of pressure through drawing activities. The metal insets invite unlimited geometric design possibilities. By completing the figures, the child repeats the movement required for writing and handling the writing tool.

When colouring and combining the figures, the feeling for colour combinations and surface division is stimulated. Metal insets stands to lay the metal insets on are also sold separately.
