The perpetual calendar is a widely used Waldorf method to help maintain rhythm throughout the year and to smooth transitions between the seasons. A treasured family ritual, the perpetual calendar is a physical way in which children can see the progression and changing of time. As it is shaped circular, the perpetual calendar visually represents time as an ongoing cycle.
This kit includes 12 nins® in 12 different colours corresponding with those defined in the Waldorf pedagogy. Each nin® represents a month, and all together they represent the 4 seasons of the year. Throughout each season “treasures” contained and collected in the little wooden bowl can be changed to reflect the changes in nature, allowing an appreciation of the many ways in which the nature of our environment evolves and changes.
The perpetual calendar German kit is entirely crafted by hand from sustainable wood and finished by hand with natural water based dyes. Each item is smooth and pleasant to touch and finished with natural bees wax.
The perpetual calendar is available in 10 languages: Català, Spanish, English, Welsh, Italian, French, Dutch, German, Galician and Basqu.
It is suitable for children aged 12 months and up.
