French toy brand Vilac was founded in 1911 as “Maison Villet”, as small workshop located in the French toy capital Moirans-en-Montagne, a village in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, eastern France. In 1979, the small workshop became Vilac, which is a contraction of the words Villet and lacquer, which colours the Vilac toys. Today, Vilac is part of the France Cartes group, together with well-known brands Petitcollin and JeuJura. All three companies have been awarded the EPV label (Entreprises du Patrimoine Vivant).
Vilac’s high quality, safe and durable wooden toys are made to endure, day after day, year after year and are pleasant to the touch. All the brand’s toys are designed in the French Jura, with a great care for detail and beautiful finishes. All beech, pine and boxwood wood for the toys are carefully chosen according to the technical constraints of the product and comes from sustainably managed forests.
All lacquers and paints are tested by approved laboratories and are guaranteed free of allergens, phthalates and lead which ensures that Vilac toys can be passed from hand to mouth without risk.
All Vilac toys are CE marked and comply with the essential requirements of the European directive n° 2009/48/EC on the safety of toys in all stages of their manufacture and therefore comply with the EN 71/1-2-3 toy standards.
