Glückskäfer’s set of 6 metal felting needles are specialist Waldorf handwork crafting tools for various wet and dry felting craft projects. Felting is a wonderful way to make your own beautiful toys and decorations and have fun crafting with older children! The set includes three different thicknesses of needle: 2 coarse, 2 medium and 2 fine needles. A wooden felting needle holder is also available separately in our shop.
Wet and dry felting and working with natural wool and plant dyed fibres are all important part of Waldorf Steiner Education. Needle felting is a highly tactile experience and a fun, creative Waldorf handwork activity. It is taught in Waldorf Schools worldwide beginning from the age of 7 or 10, and projects can range from beginner to advanced.
These specialist felting needles are designed to matt and lock fibres together. They are longer than sewing needles with a curved end instead of an eye and tiny notches or barbs along the shaft to catch and drag the fibres.
German brand Glückskäfer are well-known in Waldorf and Montessori education for their child-size, real tools specially designed to help children grow in independence.
Please note children must be supervised by an adult until they have mastered the felting techniques and using the felting tools safely. Manufacturer recommended age: 14+.
