The sturdy Grapat wooden object permanence box from the 2023 happy place collection is a Montessori inspired developmental toy for toddlers.
Playing a significant role in cognitive development, object permanence is to understand that objects continue to exist even when they are unseen or unheard. In order to be able to so, the child first must develop a mental representation of objects which begins to emerge between 18 and 24 months. Around that age the child is ready to understand object permanence as they are able to form mental representations of objects.
The Grapat object permanence box has a removable lid and invites children to insert objects. The circular hole is sized for the Grapat nins, sticks and brots. The slit is perfect for posting Grapat rings or coins, or simply for letter deliveries!
The box is also a great addition to symbolic play and can be used for storing treasures found on nature walks, small toys or for colour sorting activities.
This lovely permanence box is made from sustainably sourced solid European hardwood and has a high quality ply lid and base. It measures 16.2 x 12.5 x 8.4cm and has smooth rounded corners and edges. The box is pleasant to touch and finished with natural bees wax.
The Grapat object permanence box is suitable for children aged 6 months and up.

About the Grapat Happy Place Collection
Cities must be a happy place, and not just for adults. Kids have our same rights, cities belong to them too. So what if we changed things up?
What if we made every city in the world their happy place too?
Let’s stand up for childhood. Let’s give them a voice that is louder than traffic. Kids, take the city!
About Grapat
Inspired by the Waldorf pedagogy, the Spanish brand Grapat is well-known for their beautiful wooden toys which are open-ended and favour free and autonomous play. The Grapat philosophy is based on providing open-ended toys that encourage, invite and stimulate creation allowing children to invent their own games and imaginary worlds.
All the wooden Grapat toys are hand-crafted in various workshops in Catalunya, Spain, following traditional processes, with wood derived from sustainable forests and painted by hand with water based dyes. The toys are safe for use by small children as they are non-toxic and comply with the European safety regulations of the directive EN / 71-3: 2014 + A1: 2014 / 2013 regarding toy safety.
