Base 10 assortment – Jegro
The Jegro base ten assortment comprises of different kinds of blank wooden base ten material. Working with this mathematical material allows the child to materialise the decimal numerical structure by using the units, longs and flats.
For example the number hundred thirty two: this number consists of one unit of hundred, three units of tens and two units of one. This fact is supported and visualized by placing one flat, three longs and two units.
By using this material, the principle of conversion of hundreds and tens is clarified: one flat is equal to ten longs and one long is equal to ten units.
This material is suitable for primary school children aged 6-12 years.
