The Nienhuis Montessori infant bell from the infant and toddler material range is a solid wooden squared bell used for auditory discrimination for infants.
Around the age of 3 to 5 months infants develop the ability to intentionally reach and grasp. Around this age the hand can be closed purposefully around an object as well as shaking it without using wrist movement. After this, the infant starts examining objects by grasping and trough hand-to-hand transfer such as with the interlocking discs.
