The Nienhuis Montessori small wooden number cards 1-9000 are mathematics material used to introduce the child to the decimal system and demonstrate written symbols for each its categories.
Prior to working with this material, children should master recognition of the number from one to nine, as well as being familiar with the concept of zero.
The material consists of four sets of cards which represent the different categories of numbers in the ‘base ten’ or decimal system. The smallest numbers, 1-9, are referred to as ‘units’, and are printed in green on small wooden cards. Next, the numbers 10 to 90 by tens are printed in blue, numbers 100 to 900 by hundreds are in red, and 1,000 to 9,000 by thousands are in green.
The small wooden number cards are printed on wood and are finished with a clear varnish. A wooden box is included to facilitate handling and storage.
This Montessori material is suitable for children aged 3-6 years.
