The Nienhuis Montessori black ribbon is history timeline material and gives a good overview and explanation of the evolution during a period of 46 billion years – the ribbon can be used for various activities in the Montessori classroom such as creating timelines, depicting the evolution of man, pinpointing periods in history, creating calendars, and exploring the solar system.
The Nienhuis Montessori black ribbon is a black canvas cloth made of solid fabric, wrapped around a solid beechwood spool.
By rolling out the black ribbon and placing items on it, the children create a visual ‘history’ of the subject they are studying and get a better understanding of how long the development of the earth has taken. The forty-six metres of length of the black ribbon represents billions of years of the earth’s evolution, with the red section illustrating the evolution of human kind.
The black ribbon is recommended for use with the Nienhuis animals and book for the black ribbon. This set contains selection of realistic prehistoric animals and related revolutionary early humans figurines, all animals and early humans depicted in the book printed on thick polypropylene cards as well as a book.
This Montessori material is suitable for children aged 6 years and up.
