The Nienhuis Montessori animals and book for the black ribbon is a supplementary set of history timeline material designed to be used with the Nienhuis Montessori black ribbon.

This set contains a selection of realistic prehistoric animals and related revolutionary early humans figurines (not all animals and early humans from the book are included), a set of all the animals and early humans depicted in the book printed on thick polypropylene cards. It also includes a book which provides a good overview and detailed explanation of the evolution of the earth during a period of billions of years.

This history timeline material can be used for various activities in the Montessori classroom and prepared environment such as creating timelines, depicting the evolution of man, pinpointing periods in history, creating calendars, and exploring the solar system. The animals and book set are placed on the rolled out black ribbon, and allow children to create a visual ‘history’ of the subject they are studying and get a better understanding of how long the development of the earth has taken.
