Sound cylinders – Rolf

Rolf’s sound cylinders is Montessori inspired sensorial learning material to help refine auditory senses and practising of sound discrimination in a controlled and engaging way. It has been carefully designed to meet the development and learning needs of children in a fun way.

This set consists of 1 beechwood holder and 6 plastic cylinders. Each sound cylinder is filled with a different material, so the sounds made when shaking the cylinders vary gradually from soft to loud. This involves the following concepts: loud-louder-loudest and soft-softer-softest.

For optimal use and allowing for matching pairs, mimicking the Nienhuis Montessori sound boxes, it is recommended to purchase two sets of the sound cylinders. This allows children to practise looking for similar, equally heavy sounds.

The Rolf sound cylinders are suitable for children ages 3 and up.
