The Nienhuis Montessori clock exercise is part of the mathematical material range and an activity set which introduces the concept of time to the child. The activity set includes 48 wooden clock face tablets, 48 wooden label tablets, 2 wooden working stands, a wooden storage box with compartments and a user manual with instructions.
The clock exercise presents time as 4 segments: the whole hour, a quarter past the hour, half past the hour and a quarter to the hour. Each of the individual clock faces is represented on a wooden tablet with the time shown both in the hands position and with the name written at the bottom of the tablet.
The wooden working stands have a slot for holding the tablets. By placing the tablets in the stands the printed words on the bottom are hidden. The separate label tablets can be set on the stand in front of the face by the child to match the face with the label, and thus naming the time. The faces and labels are printed in 4 different colours for coding and separating the exercises.
The clock exercise develops visual perception as well as language and can be used with the Nienhuis learning clock with movable hands and numbers.
This Montessori material is suitable for children aged 6 years and up.
