Since 1985 German family run brand Wollmanufaktur Filges have been producing a high-quality range of organic seasonal Waldorf-inspired wool cloths, wool sheets, felt, silk, linen, knitting wool, recycled knitting cotton, crafting sets and handicrafts tools. A staple since many years at Waldorf Steiner schools worldwide, their sustainable and beautiful products are environmentally friendly, pollutant-free and ecologically responsible.
All the brand’s raw materials are sourced from certified German suppliers, and the entire Filges range of products is made in Germany following traditional and artisanal processes. This to ensure that unnecessary climate-damaging transports are avoided as well as in-transparent or unethical working conditions.
Filges is a certified Bioland processing company for sheep’s wool since 1995, and a member of the International Association of the Natural Textile Industry (IVN) since 2015. All Filges wool is exclusively derived from sheep from controlled organic animal husbandry (kbT) in Germany. The dyes used to colour Filges fabrics at their own plant colour dyeing mill are vegetable and natural. For mordants alum and tartar is used.
